Not hating this one, not loving it either. Overhyped book which really has a great marketing example in selling this one (for it may not be that easy). I was expecting a heartwarming or heart-wrenching book as the marketing on Instagram presupposes: listening to the playlist the author made & reading this will make you cry.The author draw bites of simple illustrations that complements the words, one quote per spread.

Perfect for short attention spans millenials like me.and a lot of people ? For me it's like a little advices or consolations with a lot of 'Jangan', and I never find books like that meant for everybody or easy to make personal. Those are assuming the reader is right there in the conditions or it's just a passing away advice for one who couldn't relate & won't even remember.
(I wonder if what I said makes sense.)The content itself, didn't brought any revelations nor wonderful insights. Turns out it's not just for me.
But this book is great for those who's starting to read again. I expected nothing from this book, got it from my student. I actually kind of fed up with the popularity of illustrations slash poetry books nowadays. The idea of writing letters for your kid in the future just hits right in the feels. I read this while imagining my mum and dad and their struggle to keep me and my siblings safe, in all their lifetime after they had us. I read this from parents perspectives and it just. But in a good way.
The greatest thing about the book lies in its simplicity and honesty. The sincerity and the modesty. Sometimes, we just need someone to remind us that what matters the most in life is the simplest things, not the grand, luxury, and sugarcoated reality.
I don't know the author but i wish her the best in life. I hope we all find peace in our lives.
